Our Local Work

A Way Home for Tulsa

Way Home for Tulsa (WHFT) is a collaboration of service providers committed to the development of a standardized case management system dedicated to the ultimate goal of eliminating chronic homelessness in Tulsa. The LTCA has extensive experience developing case management systems and has been invited to participate in the collaboration. The group is currently seeking local funding to support the initiative.

There are tremendous myths and misunderstandings about Tulsa's homeless.

Fact: The actual number of homelss people in Tulsa on any given night is about 600. Of those, 275 people are considered chronically homeless, meaning they revolve in and out of shelters and cannot find stability.

Fact: Each year, about 4,000 Tulsans lose their housing and approximately 26 percent of residents are at risk of losing their homes, which is defined as being one paycheck away from being unable to pay for their housing, according to shelter and social service officials.

Motivated by the "Building Tulsa, Building Lives" effort that will build 511 units to help end homelessness, a group of 70 community agencies are creating an action plan to refine their services and plug gaps in systems most often leading to homelessness.

LTCA is proud to be one of the 70 community agencies involved in creating the action plan. More information...
