Allow us this introduction: We're the Long Term Care Authority — LTCA — a trust authority created to address the public interest of long term care, and an organization with deep roots in Oklahoma as well as a national reputation. Our cost-efficient, care-effective long-term solutions promote a better quality of life through independent living.
It's a fact: LTCA of Tulsa was the first long term care public trust authority in the nation. LTCA has assumed the role of change agent and provides consulting services to state agencies. For the past decade, the LTCA has been developing original products for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS). And, in 1999, LTCA developed a partnership with the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH).
LTCA's mission statement displays our dedication and our desire to develop and maintain a long term care system which ensures:
- Comprehensive health care integrating personal, social and medical service delivery
- Partnership among citizens, agencies, corporations and governments
- An effort to deliver affordable, top-quality long term care services reflecting the culture, values and needs of those in the community
Traditionally, community-based long term care (LTC) has as many as seven different federal funding sources – each with varying eligibility, benefit and quality requirements. Most states also fund LTC programs with state-only dollars, and those programs regulated disparately state by state. Additionally, there are approximately 20 different categories of community-based LTC, including services such as mental health, medical and home health care, transportation and housing assistance. Coordinating these services across government funding sources, private sector health, social and medical providers – with one foot in the public and one in the private sector – fits the role of a public trust authority like LTCA.
